Communication theory is also known as information theory and is designed by Claude Shannon and Warren Weaver. Communication theory deals with how message are communicated between two entries: sender and receiver. It identifies the means, methods, and elements of communication and feedback. Information is passed from one place to another, and it is of transmitting this information based on the form, structure, functions, and effects of the information.
Stimulating prior-knowledge can enhance communication and their understanding based on experience and culture. For example getting an international drivers license.
Theorists
Shannon and Weaver’s theory has great historical significance. Their model helped search for other physical representations of communication. Most people working in the field of human communication had trouble following the mathematics of Shannon’s theory, but Weaver’s translation and commentary were easy to understand.
